Capacity Building Workshop To Enhance Zambia's Climate Data Management

The Ministry of Green Economy and Environment and the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development through the Supporting Preparedness for Article 6 (SPAR6C) Program is hosting a capacity building workshop to enhance Zambia’s climate data management, focusing on better data collection and reporting quality in the waste sector for Zambia’s greenhouse gas inventory.
Key areas covered included:
• Overview of the UNFCCC negotiation process, agreements, and associated reporting criteria, as well as international policy tools stemming from these agreements;
• Introduction to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines outlining inventory development principles specific to the waste sector;
• Techniques for waste data collection and its effective management;
• Methodologies for characterizing waste;
• Identifying and evaluating mitigation strategies, alongside comparing different mitigation scenarios.
Stakeholders attending the event include ZEMA, Local and Municipal Councils.
